Flagstaff is an attractive city; people want to be here.  We need to maintain a balance that protects the character of our community, while providing opportunities for appropriate growth.  To build a strong middle class, we need good-paying jobs.

Costs should be kept to a minimum and should be apportioned fairly.  I am particularly concerned when some want to increase our sales tax, which is already high.  Besides being a regressive tax, it discourages people from buying locally.

We need to keep the good employers we have, and attract new firms that are compatible with our values.  I will work to keep our success areas vibrant, like downtown, while working to stimulate business in other areas.

As discussed on the next page, the high cost of housing hurts our residents, and discourages good-paying jobs from coming here.
